I hope all of you had as wonderful a thanksgiving as we did in our family. I haven`t posted in several days as I have other writing responsibilities that I must attend to first at times. I was on my evening walk and I was thinking, as I often do when I walk, about Sovereignty and how it applies at many different levels to the aspect of freedom and a free society. One of my goals in writing about politics has always been to explain political ideals and conservative principles in a more plain fashion. As I watch the talking heads on the news I sometimes say to myself; “no wonder most people hate politics”.
I was chatting with my son and oldest daughter the other day that are now old enough to vote, about how important that right was. They both said “dad we hate politics”. This is the point that I think most conservatives fail to see, that we need to speak in plain straight language to reach the masses. Most people when polled realize that they line up more closely with a conservative than a progressive; they just don`t know it until someone speaks English to them instead of Washington BS.
As I was saying earlier, I want to talk about Sovereignty on an individual level. We all hear politicians speak about national Sovereignty and how important that is; but what about the subject of individual Sovereignty? And what does that mean? The founders believed that one of the aspects of European tyranny was the fact that all rights were granted by a King, Queen, or some other Government official. The Declaration of Independence clearly states that rights are God given at birth to all men, and are inalienable; that is to say that no human, be they pauper or king, can take them away. In other words, you as an individual are Sovereign and own yourself and have rights granted at birth by Almighty God; whatever version of God you may believe in.
The progressive and the Marxists do not believe in individual Sovereignty, they may claim they do when it comes to social issues; but they do not believe in Sovereignty on an economic level. I was in a conversation on a left wing blog the other day and the guy said to me “you have a duty to pay taxes for roads and other social issues”. If that were all the progressives wanted then I would happily agree to some fixed percentage and move on. The problem is that progressives can never name a figure and I have even heard national radio personalities like Hannity or Mark Levin ask this question. I have heard Hannity ask liberals “how much is enough? Name a figure for me”.
Progressives call keeping what you earn “greedy”, I am one who thinks taking something from someone you didn`t earn is an absolute form of greed. To sit back and buy into the “class warfare” garbage that the progressives in the democrat and republican parties spew out creates hatred toward fellow citizens. These people then vote for politicians who will use the police power of the federal government to steal their fellow citizen’s wealth. The rich are the minority in this country and so they don`t have enough votes to fight the majority of Americans who live in the covetousness of a “class warfare” mentality. This in return usurps the very individual rights or Sovereignty of another citizen.
We all have a finite amount of time on this earth when we are born; some have more than others, none of us knows the amount of time we have. Every day people get up and trade time for money, they go to work each day either at a job or a business that they own. Some individuals have paid the cost of years in Trade schools or college and have thousands invested in student loans to pay back. Others may have invented some new product or service that filled a need for millions of people and therefore they made millions in return. No matter how one earns a living, they trade the precious commodity of finite time that they have on this earth to do so. I say all this to point out the importance of private property and wealth, if you trade time for money, that money is your private property and damn well should be. There are those in every society who have physical and mental illness and cannot fend for themselves and we as a society should provide a safety net for them. I have never been opposed to social welfare programs; however, the left wants to sign everybody and their brother up and cares nothing about their citizenship status to boot.
But what should we do about those in society who choose to be mentally ill or sick? What about those who make very poor decisions and shoot a bird to all who try holding them accountable for their actions? Just as there are many who choose to work hard, finish school, pay their own way thru college; there are those who choose to quit school, do drugs, drink alcohol in excess, and become pregnant at a young age. Finally, there are those who just simply have an entitlement mentality and don`t give a damn about personal responsibility. These leeches on the ass of society are loved by the democrats because that’s who they vote for. The democrats know this and don`t care, all they want is power.
We the people of this nation who love freedom and liberty; should not revert this magnificent society called America back to the horrible European socialism we left behind over 200 years ago. We should remain Sovereign as a nation and we should respect our fellow citizens individual Sovereignty.
America is a unique and fantastic society, and the only one of its kind in the world. This great nation was brought about with the intention of escaping the sting of European tyranny felt by the founders and the colonies. The founders wanted to create a self governing society which would allow ultimate freedom from the tyranny of the ruling class; a society in which men were ruled by the law of the land instead of the inconsistent whims of some ruler or king. The founders knew that freedom and liberty were a prized possession that all men dreamed of; yet they come with great personal responsibility and most people of today`s America seem unwilling to bear the load.
This society was built with the idea of local governments having the power to set agenda`s based on local populations and their traditions. The founders knew that a local state, county, or township, knows its people best and therefore can best legislate for their citizens. The all powerful central governments in Europe treated their citizens as numbers or statistics because they knew nothing of the people they ruled in general. The founders knew that if the people could responsibly govern themselves that this was the best form of government.
Freedom has many risks as a byproduct of its lack of control. The early citizens of this country knew that America was not perfect but compared to the tyranny of European societies, freedom was worth the risk. The local and state governments began to see issues which needed to be addressed by government in those days such as schools, hospitals, and roads. There are problems which can be best handled by government at the local, state, and federal level; and the constitution is designed to allow those powers and also limit them from harming liberty. There are channels which can be followed that can change the constitution and they are very difficult to enact such as a constitutional convention; this was the intention of the founders to protect the new republic from wholesale democracy. Today we see activist judges changing the law of the land from the bench; a judge should never legislate from the bench as this usurps power from the legislature and the people who elect them.
The progressive movement in America began to have legs under the Woodrow Wilson administration, and has grown every since the turn of the 20th century. Progressive ideals are not new; they are in fact the same old tyranny that we left behind in Europe two centuries ago. The ruling class mentality of; “we know better than you how you should live your life”, is alive and well in the democrat party as it has become the home of the progressive. In Europe the progressive mentality is the norm and the citizens of those societies never seem to have the intestinal fortitude to change their governments. They simply criticize from afar and yet look to America to bail them out at every turn. Immigrants from all over the world, who speak as though they hate America on one hand, scramble to come here on the other. When they come to America they works hard as they can to change America into the same third world hell they left behind; and the democrat party is a willing accomplice to this act in trade for a vote.
The point of all this is to say; you care more about you than government ever will. Those who vote for the politician who says” vote for me and you will have free this and guaranteed that” seem unable to see that the tyranny they unleash on the rich will someday turn on them. When you chose to give power to the federal government to accomplish your own selfish political goals in the name of class equality; this same government will one day come to you to be fed when it runs out of rich people to steal from. The progressive holds on to the failed ideal that all men can be equal on an economic level; American`s know that all men are created equal with the freedom to be as rich or poor as they so choose. No society in human history has ever been able to maintain economic equality without police power and tyranny.
The American dream of freedom, liberty, individual responsibility, and private property, is at enormous risk. The future citizens of our country, our children, are being taught to have no personal responsibility by our schools and political leaders. The citizens of today are so busy making sure that they get theirs, whether by voting or working for it, that they care nothing of the danger signs we all see. The politicians continue to turn one American against another with the same old Marxist class warfare tactics used by progressive around the globe. They promise the useful idiot that it is ok to steal as long as the government does the stealing. The useful idiot then stands back with salivating lips awaiting his reward that comes in return for his vote. Uneducated, fearful, dependant, useful idiots have been the tool of tyrants for the entire span of human history. Freedom and liberty have been achieved by the brave, self educated, fearless, independent patriots of all free nations. Freedom is never free and neither is tyranny; both come at a cost yet produce a different fruit.
I wanted to touch on the subject of class warfare because it really is at the heart of our countries problems. You cannot have a war without an antagonistic issue. In our country we as Americans have one important thing in common, love of freedom and liberty. In Europe with its socialist and left wing leanings; the old world ruling classes were always trying to reinvent government with themselves in power. Europe is far older than America; we are the new kids on the block. The Europeans have had centuries to build magnificent societies with freedom and wealth, yet they have never truly succeeded in doing so.
Along comes America; started by a group of Europeans immigrants who were tired of the ruling class back home. These men had tasted the effects of centuries of oppression form the monarchs, military dictators, and other monolithic societies in Europe. America was an experiment in freedom; with all men being free form the rule of other men. The law would be the only king and all men would bow down its rule, even the president. Men could own private property and build any amount of wealth they chose. America was not going to be perfect as no government system on this earth can be perfect. America would, however, create more freedom and liberty than any of the great societies before her.
Class warfare is a resentment born in the slums and agricultural fields of Europe not America. It came from the unfair treatment of the peasant by the ruling class; the land lords and their cruelty toward the villagers and farmers of that time in Europe. It is no wonder the peoples of that time hated the ruling class who were simply born into luck or wealth, and looked down their nose at those who were not. The ruling class lived off the backs of the poor through taxation and slave labor in the fields. One can only imagine the resentment that the people of that day had; the frustrations that they felt because they had no real way to lift themselves up past their place in society.
It was in this environment that class warfare had a justifiable complaint. For centuries the ruling class believed themselves to be put in place by god himself which gave light to the term “frozen classes” which means “permanent classes”. This gave way to the philosophy of men like Edmund Burke and other philosophers of the day. Burke believed that rights were god given and all men should be free to live in an ordered society ruled only by the law and not a king. The founding fathers studied Burke`s philosophies and used them in their writings about the new revolution and separation from the British.
In the 1840`s the world first heard the name Karl Marx. Marx was an isolated man who never believed in a revolution and for the most part wanted nothing to do with the people he championed for. He hated the bourgeois or capitalist/ruling class of the day. Marx was against economic progress and described capitalists as “rats scurrying the globe to find new markets to sell goods”. Marx was often described as an unemotional and uncompassionate man. The communist movement was more far reaching than the socialists of the day. Marx was a communist at heart and did not agree with the utopian ideals of the socialist. He never gave a detailed definition of communism in his literary works but rather spoke of class struggle and the plight of the proletariat or lower class.
America was founded on the principles of Burke and other western thinkers of that day. These men also hated the ruling class and wanted a form of government which allowed men to rule themselves. They wanted a society in which men could lift themselves to whatever social class they could achieve. Marx thought all capitalism was evil and that it used the working poor to lift the bourgeois or ruling class to the top. The fact is that in a perfect world we would not have separate classes but in this imperfect world not all men choose to reach for higher goals. Free people are always free to be rich or poor it is their choice. In the communist system you do not have that choice, you are slave to the state because no one man is allowed to be greater than another. This sounds like a form of equality does it not? The communist claims that all are equal in the eyes of the state; and that all should work for the betterment of society as a whole and not the individual. This really sounds good; If we could all just give to one another and not worry about ourselves wouldn`t life be less stressful? Wouldn`t all men be taken care of? No more competition, no more worry of private property or keeping up with the Jones`s.
The problem with this world view is that men are involved in its existence and organization. Society`s must have some form of government in place to manage the populace. Someone has to lead and someone has to keep order in a society. There has to be a central government in place to send out the food, keep the police and firemen paid, and build infrastructure. These are the necessary evils of government, unless you believe in anarchy. It is this very fact that brings about the demise of the socialist/communist theory. Communism/socialism is in fact a theory because no society has ever made it work. The people who run the government have all the power and all the money; once again you have a ruling class of politicians and party members. This communist ruling class is the most dark of all ruling classes; just look at Korea, Russia (under Lenin/Stalin), Cuba, Vietnam/Cambodia, and China. Communism is responsible for millions of brutal deaths and the destruction of billions in private property in the name of equality.
Class warfare is a detestable and disgusting display of envy and covetousness. The capitalist system is not perfect and never will be; however, it is more fair and forgiving than any other economic system in the world today. The progressive politician spreads his class warfare rhetoric and the useful idiot is convinced that the rich are evil and don`t care for the poor. The progressive politicians tell the useful idiot “vote for me and I will tax the rich and spread the wealth and make things fair for everyone”. The progressive politician tells the useful idiot that healthcare, jobs, retirement, and wages are a right. The progressive politician convinces the useful idiot that the rich man stands in the way of these rights because he is greedy. The useful idiot then votes for this politician and allows him to steal from his neighbor through taxation and regulation for the supposed good of all.
The useful idiot would rather have a politician steal wealth from his neighbor and give it to him; than to take responsibility for his own live and his own choices. The useful idiot sees this as moral and just because the he used the police power of government to steal his neighbors’ private property; rather than breaking into the neighbors house himself. Hitler rose to power with the help of useful idiots who were so enamored with his words and promises they ignored the warning signs of his true nature. Hitler had a past which anyone could see was radical, but the German people ignored it and embraced the Nazi party. History tells no lies, and class warfare has been used before to separate countrymen from one another.
What if we no longer listened to these fools in Washington who have stolen our wealth, caused division amongst our people, and promised for 60 years to fix all society’s ills only to make them worse. The drones will always want big daddy government to take care of them. The rest of America must drop the mantle of class warfare and class envy and work together toward taking power away from Washington. We the people deserve to keep what we earn, own private property, and pass these things to our children when we die. This truly is a magnificent society, like no other society in human history.
